Mokokobale Makgopa is a versatile and multilingual actress, theatre-maker and writer. Makgopa is the 2016 recipient of the National Arts Council Scholarship for her outstanding academic and artistic achievement in Drama.
She has just completed four yearts of training in the Theatre and Performance degree programme at University of Cape Town(UCT) majoring in acting and drama. Prior to UCT Mokokobale trained at the National School of the Arts where she was in the matric drama top-ten and received a trophy for best performacnce.
Productions at UCT drama school include: Langalibalele and played the role of Nandi, directed by Clare Stopford; The Seagull and played the role of Nina, directed by Jacqui Singer; Have You Seen Zandile and played the role of Gogo and various characters, directed by Ntombi Makhutshi; Welcome to Thebes and played the role of Euridyice and Pargeia, directed by Clare Stopford. She has recently featured in Zee Ntuli’s movie, Hard To Get.
Mokokobale seeks to represent misrepresented and marginalised communities in theatre ,film and television in a manner which is respectful and truthful.
