Merveline was born in Vryburg in 1988. At the age of 3, she moved to Nelspruit where she grew up in the Kruger National Park. In 2005 she matriculated at Lowveld High school where she excelled  in swimming and athletics, and playing provincial Hockey since Grade 8, representing Mpumalanga.

Her keen interest in school plays and her participation in the Eisteddfods inspired her to pursue a career in acting, and so she received a BA Honours degree in Live Performance from AFDA in 2011. Numerous acting parts in student films followed and she co-produced a masters film, Mysteries of the Stolen Song in 2010. 

Rodney Place assisted her to grow a better understanding of the entertainment industry and she was selected to represent AFDA in Belgium and the Netherlands in a project called, Jongerenprojek. A pharmaceutical company for Contraceptives also approached her for a campaign named, World Contraception Day 2010, which had a screening on Cinema and Television. Soon after an internship with Stark Films followed.

Merveline is also qualified as an airhostess from the age of 18.

Her television credits include The Marc Lottering Series, Binneland, Heaven can Wait  and Villa Rosa.
