Hanli is a South African actress best known for her roles ‘Sarah-Lee Odendaal’ on the SABC1 soapie Generations, from 1996-2001.

She received a Honours degree in Drama (cum laude) from the University of Pretoria in 1994. Shortly thereafter she made her television debut as ‘Lieutenant Bernice Fox’ in Scholtz Films's Die Laksman, after which she started her six-year stint on Generations.

She has had lead roles in two major shows on Afrikaans pay channel kykNET: as ‘Louise Schoeman’ in the soapie Villa Rosa, and as ‘Sophia Landman’ in the drama series Kruispad.

Other television series she has appeared in include Justice For All, The Adventures of Sinbad, Vetkoekpaleis, Egoli, Iemand om lief te hê (Someone to Love), Jozi Streets, Getroud met Rugby, 90 Plein Street, Hartland, Askies, Parys Parys, Pandjieswinkelstories and Binneland. Her film credits include Sleeper’s Wake and Mollie en Wors.

She also has numerous theatre credits, including the Afrikaans plays Boesman my Seun (2005), Twaalfuurwals (2006), Kaburu (2007), Knypie Oppie Kant (2008), My Sarie Marais (2010) and Die Beauty Queen van Bo-Berg (2013/2014).

She was one of the contestant panellists on the SABC2 game show Where Were You?, from August to November, 2008.

Hanli was also the director for the soapie, Binneland Sub Judice from 2009 – 2010, and continuously writes for stage and screen.
