Biography:

Elzette started her acting career during her final BA Drama-year at the University of Pretora, with the leading role in a feature film by the late Daan Retief: Beloftes van Môre. She started freelancing right away and landed the plum female leading role in Die Vlakte Duskant Hebron, an eight episode TV-drama, for which she was nominated “best actress in a drama series”. Later she also received a best actress nomination for her role in Torings, the follow-on series of Konings.

Elzette also “sync”- translated films & dramas at the SABC (to be dubbed into Afrikaans) and two of her films were nominated for best translations. She called a temporary halt to a lucrative film- and TV-career in Johannesburg and moved to Bloemfontein to join the Performing Arts Council of the Free-State where she stayed for 5 years, performing in school’s programs, pantomimes, dramas, musicals, comedies and farces.

In 1988 she moved back to Gauteng and was soon approached by Jan Scholtz to play ‘Koekie’ in Die Binnekring I&II. While living in Pretoria, she also played for PACT in a number of comedies and farces. She then played ‘Maria-Elena’, in the hit musical, Buddy Holly that toured throughout South Africa during 1994 & 1995.

She played the female leads in Die Vierde Kabinet (‘Steffie Gouws’) opposite Gys de Villiers and Arsenaal (Addie Muller), opposite Ian Roberts. Other television credits include the roles ‘Amanda’, in Sewende Laan for SABC 2, ‘Stephanie’ in Hart van Staal for Kyknet, Binnelanders for M-Net and Wild At Heart for the Hallmark Channel.

Elzette’s acting career had to take a back seat the last couple of years as she stepped into the role of director/producer for musical shows Simply Irresistibl, Joseph Clark – Unplugged, Joseph Clark - The Music Of QUEEN (which was produced in South Africa, Italy and Germany), Vivere, African Crossing and Houtkruis – Die Musical.

Elzette manages singer Joseph Clark, the 4 Gaabo Motho Tenors and soprano Yollandi Nortjie.  She also books, compiles and directs shows for corporate entertainment for local and international clients.
