Danielle was born and raised in Johannesburg. She graduated from Helpmekaar College in 2009 with distinctions in all 9 of her subjects ranging from science and math to English and art. Her love of languages and different cultures resulted in her taking on French and German at Wits University to add to her fluent English and Afrikaans. After various international exchanges in both Germany and France, she is now almost fluent in German and at conversational level in French. She graduated with distinction in 2015 with a BA (Honours) in European languages and English literature and is currently pursuing a Masters degree.
Danielle grew up in the entertainment industry, but her first lead role as ‘Lulu’, a girl who turns her brother into an egg in the 2001 SABC production, My Brother the Egg, was the proof that she belonged there. She went on to play little sister, Marelie, in two seasons of the kykNET series, Song vir Katryn, as well as the complicated casino princess, Linkie, in SABC3’s High Rollers; a suicidal teen in Geraamtes in die Kas; a spell-casting, gothic writer in P.G. du Plessis’s Pandjieswinkelstories and ill-fated cancer-patient, Michelle, in Binnelanders. In 2014 she took to the stage in André Stolz’ Chekhov Festival where she played a young spinster, Manuschka, in The Trousseau and a rich land owner, Marja Illowajskaya, in Oppad. Her involvement in numerous student films has gained her acting, as well as writing experience and in 2015 she wrote and performed in Die Onderbreker, a play about mistaken identities and the world of art at the AULA theatre in Johannesburg. She describes her play- and film writing style as a blend of frenzied British comedy and geeky calamity.
Danielle is also a classical ballet and contemporary dancer. She has done her ballet exams up to the Royal Academy of Dance Intermediate level and is currently taking class at the Joburg Ballet studios.
