Clarissa has been one of the privileged few that knew from the beginning what she wanted to be. Fascinated by storytelling, she started nurturing her passion for acting from a very young age. During high school she became even more devoted to her craft and won the Judge’s Award for her dedication towards playing mature characters beyond her age. In 2015, she received her BA degree in Theatre and Performance, specializing in Acting, at the University of Cape Town. She then went on to receive the Brett Goldin Award for Best Acting Student of the graduated class of 2015.
Last year she starred in multiple stage productions, such as the Baxter’s performance of Black Dog/Inj’emnyama, playing the role of Rita under the direction of Clare Stopford. In December 2015 she joined the musical cast of Die Van Aardes Van Grootoor, playing the role of Elana van Aarde, directed by the infamous Pieter Dirk Uys and funded by Pieter Toerien at the Theatre on the Bay.
In February 2016 she once again took on the one-woman-show, Kafka se Aap, directed by Jan Burger which she performed at the Pierneef theatre in Pretoria.
Clarissa sees herself as a local actress and is passionate about the South African Industry. She believes that big opportunities are waiting in the very heart of our local industry and hope that one day she may be a part of it to show the rest of the world that we, as South Africans, are indeed capable of creating beautiful and glorious works of art.
